I’m a big fan of pickles and coleslaw! And although this was not the main attraction of this meal tonight, I thought the vibrant colors of the dill pickles right beside the crispy, fresh coleslaw would show how much heart was put into this home cooking.
Actually, the potato salad looks amazing too! Yesterday, the guests ate hot pulled pork sandwiches with delicious sides of a pickle, coleslaw, potato salad, and dipping sauce, all of course with a dessert treat on the side. Certainly, the dinner could have been better by sitting down in community together with others, but during this time of COVID-19, getting warm, healthy meals in take-out boxes handed out with a smile is the next best thing.
Our volunteers go out of their way to prepare hygiene kits for the guests, too. The picture below shows the table set up for giving out personal hygiene amenities to the people who came to the church yesterday. It was another successful dinner made through the efforts of our wonderful volunteers!
